Carillo asked Federer if he went out and partied after winning. 

“Well, uh, yeah,” he said, sheepishly. “The match went so long, yeah, maybe a toast of champagne. You got to get your act together, get your tuxedo, you're going to go to the champions ball—” 

“Whoo!” Roddick interjected. 

“The thing is a lot of guys just want to go to the club—” Federer went on.

“That's where I was,” Roddick joked. 

“I was waiting for the call, ‘Are you going to join me, buddy?’” Federer said, getting the last laugh.

The audience question that drew the biggest response from the crowd was when a woman asked Federer if he’ll ever play on clay again.

Feeling protective of his pal, Roddick shouted out no! “I'm going to go human shield on this one. He should never play on clay again. It's really hard on the body. He shouldn't. Go ahead, say no now,” he said, allowing Federer to then answer. In a more measured response, Federer said he had not made a decision yet.

“I think for Austin, Andy is so important, and I think it's so nice I can be with you here today. Brooklyn also, your family, just everybody being so involved. It means a lot to me. If down the road I can help again, do not hesitate,” Federer said to Roddick at one point in their conversation with Carillo. 

“Thank you,” Roddick replied. “And we have a lot of witnesses.”
